DoVES Services

Shelter Services:

DoVES can provide safe shelter for women and their dependent children who are fleeing physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse.

Non-residential Services:

Information and referral, civil and criminal court advocacy, counseling options, education and empathetic listening.

Shelter/ Non-Residential Services

24 hour, 7 days a week staffed crisis hotline to offer immediate crisis intervention, options, referrals, counseling, education and empathetic listening.

Crisis Hotline

There are several available support groups for members of the community. There are groups available to both residential and non-residential women enduring and recovering from the effects of sexual and/or domestic violence as well as a group for women who use violence or have used illegal violence and have subsequently been arrested.

Support Groups

Education, presentations and speakers are available to the community agencies and other organizations in regards to domestic violence, dating violence, date rape, sexual assault, and the effects of domestic violence on children. (Other topics available upon request).

Community Education

The OARS Program

The OARS Program is designed for survivors that are applying for or receiving cash assistance and are having trouble meeting their work program goals.  The program offers support groups, individual appointments, good cause forms from pursuing child support as well as other beneficial options. Community Outreach Services

DoVES, Inc. provides both sexual assault and domestic violence outreach services for Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson and Nemaha counties. For more information about any of our program services in these counties, please contact us by email or telephone.

Police Response Advocates

DoVES also provides trained advocates to respond to domestic violence/ sexual assault–related police calls in Atchison.

Court Advocate Services

Our Court Advocacy Program can provide some assistance in matters of court hearings. A court advocate is in house for Atchison County cases, and arrangements can be made for our satellite counties. While we cannot speak for you, we are there for support and can give general information about what you may experience in the court room.

Children’s Program

Our children’s program provides group sessions during the adult support groups to allow survivors to get the most out of the sessions.
